Rob is trial and appellate counsel to high-net-worth individuals, closely held businesses, and public companies in a variety of commercial disputes. Clients value his calm judgment under pressure and his strategic focus on their broader business goals.

Rob maintains a broad commercial litigation practice. He regularly acts in shareholder and partnership disputes, oppression claims, complex contractual disputes, urgent injunctions, and enforcement matters. His practice also includes professional regulatory and employment matters.

Rob has a robust trial and appellate practice. He handles applications, trials, appeals, and private arbitrations. He has appeared at all levels of court in Ontario, at the Manitoba Court of Appeal, and before administrative tribunals. He is called to the bar in Ontario and New York and represents clients across Canada and abroad. 

Rob's work includes acting as:
  • Counsel in a $150 million commercial real estate partnership dispute, securing a precedent-setting in-kind distribution of the partnership's real estate assets at trial;
  • Counsel to a minority shareholder who, in a private arbitration, won the right to buy out the majority interest in an investment company valued at approximately $80 million;
  • Appellate counsel in a broad range of litigation. His successes include reversing a summary judgment order in a $22 million negligence claim against a municipality, overturning a civil jury verdict in a brain injury case, and defending the scope of solicitor-client privilege in a multi-billion-dollar civil fraud action against a former Saudi Arabian government official; 
  • Counsel to sports law expert Richard McLaren in a civil action brought by Russian cyclists arising from his investigation of alleged state-sponsored doping before the 2016 Rio Olympics (previous firm); and
  • Counsel to BMO Nesbitt Burns at trial and on appeal, successfully defending a claim for breach of the duty of good faith contractual performance (previous firm).

Rob's advocacy is recognized by his peers and leading publications. Benchmark Litigation Canada named him a Future Litigation Star in 2026. Best Lawyers has recognized him as "One to Watch" in Corporate and Commercial Litigation since 2025. 

Before joining AGB, Rob articled and practiced at Lenczner Slaght LLP. He earned his law degree from Osgoode Hall Law School, where he received the J. Edward Thompson Q.C. Memorial Scholarship for the highest standing among second-year students in the Litigation and Dispute Resolution program.
