AGB lawyer David Ionis is looking forward to returning to his alma mater tomorrow, for his first day as an Instructor of Osgoode Hall Law School's landmark course in Trial Advocacy.

This upper-year, hands-on, practical elective provides law students with an essential introduction to the techniques of trial advocacy. During the term, students receive invaluable training on pre-trial preparation and case analysis, opening and closing statements, examination and cross-examination of witnesses, evidence issues, expert evidence, tactical questions, and common ethical issues that confront the trial lawyer.

Throughout the term, students perform simulation exercises in small groups under the critical guidance of experienced trial lawyers and Judges—an esteemed group that David joins this year. The term culminates with each student acting as part of a counsel team on a half-day jury trial, presided by Judges of either the Ontario Court of Justice or the Superior Court of Justice.

We are thrilled to see David return to Osgoode to act as one of the course’s Instructors, supporting the next generation of litigators develop and hone their advocacy toolkit.
