Baker v. Blue Cross Life Insurance Company of Canada (ONCA)
Geoff Adair successfully represented the respondents in this appeal, in which the Court of Appeal for Ontario upheld a landmark $1.5 million punitive damages award over the mishandling of long-term disability claims. This is largest known punitive damages award against an insurance company in Canadian legal history. The Court also upheld the full indemnity cost award in favour of our client, for over $1 million.
