Stolen Time: Documentary and discussion with the OBA
On June 25, join the Ontario Bar Association's Elder Law Section, in conjunction with the Parent & Caregiver Network, for a special screening and discussion of the documentary Stolen Time. This event is chaired by AGB partner, Rebecca Kennedy.
This documentary follows elder-rights lawyer Melissa Miller as she advocates on behalf of residents and families affected by abuse and neglect in Canada's corporate for-profit nursing home industry. As the legal battle unfolds, families, frontline caregivers and change-makers chronicle an urgent crisis with ramifications - and inspiration - for us all. You can view the trailer here.
For anyone who is a caregiver or may be at some point for a family member or friend, this documentary is a must-see, as it can assist you in navigating the corporate nursing-home industry.
Following the film, hear from Melissa Miller herself as she shares her thoughts on the film and the issues it unpacks. Melissa is an advocate for the most vulnerable members of our population, the elderly. Being certified in Elder Law, she concentrates her practice on nursing home negligence, long-term care cases and elder abuse, and is the founding member of the advocacy group Canadians4LTC.
This event is free for CBA Members and CBA Student Members. You can learn more and register here.
