Emma is developing a broad commercial and civil litigation practice. Prior to joining Adair Goldblatt Bieber, Emma summered and articled with a leading global law firm in Toronto where she gained experience across a range of complex litigation matters. She then served as a judicial law clerk at the Court of Appeal for Ontario.

Emma earned her law degree from Queen’s University, graduating first in her class and receiving the Gold Medal in Law. She also achieved the highest standing in both her second and third years, earning the Dean’s Gold Scholar Award in each year and numerous additional academic awards and course prizes.

During law school, complementing her academic achievements, Emma gained significant practical litigation experience as a caseworker with Queen’s Legal Aid and clerking at the Ontario Court of Justice. She also competed in the Wilson Moot, a national moot court competition focused on equality law and the Charter of Rights and Freedoms. In addition, she served as a research assistant to Professor Benjamin Ewing, conducting empirical and theoretical research on the sentencing of Indigenous offenders, and as a teaching assistant to Professor Hugo Choquette in an introductory Aboriginal Law course for the Queen’s Certificate in Law.

Prior to law school, Emma completed both her Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Classics, specializing in ancient legal systems. She graduated as the medalist in her department and received the SSHRC J.-A. Bombardier Canada Graduate Scholarship and the Tri-Council Recipient Recognition Award in support of her Master’s research.

Emma will begin a year-long clerkship with Justice Kasirer at the Supreme Court of Canada later this year.
