Today we write to congratulate and thank our dear friend, mentor, and counsel, Geoff Adair. Today marks the first day of Adair Litigation, Geoff's new new litigation and advisory firm.
AGB's ethos of excellence in trial and appellate practice comes from Geoff, who has tried over 250 cases and argued over 100 appeals before the Ontario Court of Appeal and the Supreme Court of Canada. There is no better strategic mind for litigation than Geoff’s.
Over the years, Geoff has been committed to teaching and writing in an effort to improve the quality of advocacy and develop future litigators of excellence. He is the author of On Trial: Advocacy Skills Law and Practice, a leading text on trial advocacy cited as an authority by both the Ontario Superior Court of Justice and the Ontario Court of Appeal. He has also been a contributing editor to Ontario Courtroom Procedure and has written countless articles on issues of concern to the profession.
Geoff is a generous mentor whose door is always open, and who has always prioritized giving back to his profession. Geoff regularly contributes to continuing education programs. He has often been called upon to participate in trial and appeal demonstrations hosted by the Advocates’ Society, the Ontario Bar Association, the Ontario Trial Lawyers Association and some for-profit groups. Geoff served for many years as an instructor in the Law Society of Upper Canada Bar Admission course in civil litigation and is a past President of the Canadian Bar Association – Ontario Branch Civil Litigation section.
We are fortunate to have learned from and laughed with Geoff over the years, and look forward to continuing to work with him in his new endeavour. Adair Litigation will focus on shorter term litigious matters (such as appeals, applications, etc.) and litigation advisory services to the profession (such as case strategy, mock cross-examinations, case evaluations, etc.).
Congratulations, Geoff, and thank you.
